Spiritual Coaching to Support Regeneration

Regeneration is an every day activity.

Literally.

It is something that we need to be aware of and working on every day — in the choices we make and the actions we take.

But how many of us take the time to reflect on our choices and our actions? We have so many things to get done in a day, that reflection on our own regeneration often doesn’t make it to the top of the list.

But what if we took the time to create “action plans” for our own regeneration — what if we had a “coach” for our spiritual growth like we do for other skills and knowledge we want to develop?…

Who might be interested in coaching?

Anyone who has goals that they aren’t moving forward as fast or as meaningfully as they might like.

These might be general life issues, small business development, health, or other issues. The agenda is yours!

(My kind of coaching is so not sport-coaching, so don’t even try to get me to help with your golf game — unless it’s your Inner Game of Golf! 😉

What makes what I’m offering different from other coaches?

I’m familiar with Swedenborg’s writings and supportive of these approaches to spiritual growth.

And, while I want to make sure the agenda is your own, I also want to make sure you are considering your Whole Self, including your spiritual health, in the work we do together.
Is there anyone who wouldn’t benefit from coaching?

Coaching is different from therapy in that it is very action-focused — we want to get you moving in a direction you want to go.
This means you need to be able to identify an agenda for us to work on together and be able to take any steps you commit to in our work together.

We won’t be delving into your past, working on any “deep issues”, or working to heal something of major disruption to your life or health. Treatment or therapy assumes you feels something is “wrong” with you that you want to change; Coaching assumes you are able to be resourceful and work actively with me to get “unstuck”.

Coaching is also different from teaching. I won’t try to interpret Swedenborg to you, give you advice on what you “should do”, or otherwise replace the kind of counsel and support you get from New Church leaders.

Apart from that, almost anyone can benefit. I’ve worked with people on moving forward on getting their small business going, finishing their dissertation, keeping the enthusiasm in their work, creating a blog or website, etc., to “manage” their own ADD at work or home etc.

My goal is simply to ask the right questions to help you get yourself moving – taking the Actions that move you forward on your goals.

What is involved?

I am looking for 2-3 people who would be interested in meeting weekly or bi-weekly by phone for 30 minutes.

We would talk first by phone to make sure you have an agenda I think I can help with and to make sure we are a good “fit” together. During this meeting, if we both decide to go ahead, we would also talk about fees that are manageable for you and other information that will be helpful as we work together.

I usually ask folks to commit to at least 3 months of work together, to make sure we get you started and over the 90-day hump ;-), but it can be for more or less time, depending on what you want to get  from the coaching and whether I seem to be helpful to you.

What if you have other questions?

Please call me and ask! Just let me know which New Church group you are connected with.  My office number is: 416.259.9019

Why am I making this offer to New Church-connected folks?

I hear you wondering what the catch is 😉

No catch.

I’m interested in working with people who take their spiritual development seriously and as part of their everyday life, so New Church people seemed the perfect place to ask!

I look forward to hearing from anyone who might be interested in at least exploring the idea with me — this is a time-limited offer for now, so please don’t hesitate too long if you might be interested!

Best Wishes to all —

Not sure a mystic is being “rational”, but I get your point 😉 He was able to go back and forth between his ways of being, wasn’t he?

  3. domenic said,

yes mysticism is more of a sensual nature, he was rational.he approached the spiritual through the rational, not the other way around, i really don’t like that name mystic it don’t suite him . God bless

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the structure of
your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content
so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one
or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?

Jared: Thanks for the positive feedback and the suggestions. This blog started as a place for me to kind of collect my thoughts about the intersection of psychology and Swedenborg, but I’ve not been able to find the time to add to it for quite a while! I hope to do so at some point, so I keep it alive. When I can create a space for time to write about it, I will certainly take into account your suggestions about adding more images and making it more readable on-screen. Thanks again!
